Radiant Solutions is looking for a Cloud Engineer- Amazon Web Services (AWS) at our Ann Arbor, MI  area locationThis position requires proficiency in Python programming .

General Summary:  

As part of the IT Cloud team, you will participate with the cloud architect and IT in implementation of an AWS Multi-Account management strategy, setup and management of a Radiant Solutions transit VPC, supporting technical and business teams in implementation of hybrid and scalable computing, database, storage, and product delivery solutions from within the Amazon Web Services Platform (AWS) and similar platforms.  You will apply AWS as well as engineering best practices in development and implementation.


Examples of projects include:

  1. Creating shared CloudFormation templates and tooling for creation of VPC environments following best security practices and standardizing the process and configuration.
  2. Working with the new AWS organizations service for helping to streamline, automate, and standardize new account setup.
  3. Writing Lambda functions in Python to be utilized by AWS Config for auditing governance and security policies across accounts in AWS.
  4. Working with IT to help put automated guardrails in place for business teams to work in AWS with the same level of security they would expect onsite with the freedom to utilize AWS resources to create products quickly.
  5. Collaborate with agile team to design AWS cloud-based solutions that enable development teams to flawlessly deploy application updates with zero down time and zero manual intervention.
  6. Collaborate with enterprise architects and application developers to create optimal cloud-based solutions that cost effective to operate.


As IT and the business moves more services to the cloud, you will be involved in the implementation and automation of systems using on premise and cloud-based resources.   You'll be focused on implementation and maintenance of cloud-based systems including administration, performance tuning, optimization, scripting, automation, and reclamation.  This position requires a highly-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced environment, learn and implement new technologies, and provide guidance to individual teams.

  • Implement Lambda functions in Python  for AWS Config to utilize in applying governance and security policies.
  • Work with teams to script out application deployment to stacks running on Linux/UNIX systems using CI tools/technologies.
  • Implement Lambda functions for supporting and maintaining a Transit VPC.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies for technology stacks.
  • Implement monitoring, management, troubleshoot and issue resolution to systems and services hosted on cloud resources.
  • Work with business units, software developers, security, and IT to build applications and services within AWS and/or other cloud providers.
  • Support DevOps functions to best utilize cloud resources with software configuration management and continuous integration tools; improving quality, security, and time to deliver.
  • Provide cross training and/or knowledge transfer to colleagues as necessary.
  • Document processes and procedures in managing and securing infrastructure making sure best practices are always followed.



  • Experience working with Linux/UNIX systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS technologies.
  • Experience using best practices deploying applications stacks running on Linux/UNIX to AWS.
  • Networking and security experience with AWS VPCs.
  • Proficient in Python programming for Lambda and CI/CD related scripting.
  • Experience working with AWS CLI a plus
  • Experience supporting the migration of systems to hybrid or fully cloud-based solutions.
  • Development experience in formal software language required.
  • Implement the automation of backup and recovery strategies.
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
  • A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
  • Past roles may include software developer/systems engineer/or cloud engineer.
  • Degree in computer science or related field

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience automating multi-account management in AWS.
  • Experience with AWS Organizations.
  • Experience in AWS serverless architecture and implementation.
  • Experience working with AWS VPN, Direct Connect, and transet VPCs.
  • Experience with CI/CD using Jenkins and/or Bamboo
  • Experience in implementing an automated code pipelines
  • Experience in C++ and/or Java a plus
  • AWS certifications a plus
  • Systems and Networking experience with AWS services a plus
  • Hands-on knowledge across the catalog of AWS technologies a plus
  • Department of Defense 8570 Compliance Certification a plus
